Dear friends,
Many years ago, there were a bunch of boys who became friends while being rigorously educated in St. Andrew's.
We went through many stages of life together. "O" level, rugby, girls, "A" level, university, girlfriends, marriage, children, career ... and now 2 divorces among us.
While we met for a meal last night, we were informed by one that his marriage has broken down. I swallowed my saliva while trying to digest the news (between the chicken wings and beer).
I kept silence for I fear of saying something stupid.
Two of us, who doesn't drink much, suddenly said, "Let us drink to it."
Guys, we stand together. Up and on.

I wonder what is becoming of the institution of marriage. Is it undergoing the same transformation as does the new age economy - just as there is no lifelong employment now, marriage for life no longer holds true.
I know a colleague who declared that he was single and available and mere months later, announced his marriage. Unless this is one of those love at first sight cases, my sympathies are with his soon wife-to-be. I may be wrong, but there is a very high chance that such marriage would end in divorce. It's only a matter of time.
THese are wat so call the LIFE processes .. like it or not.. marriage nowadays are not like the past.. u say it and u mean it..
TO me.. it still holds a degree of faith and well i of course hope it will be a trustworthy one if i get married with my future husband ..BUt no one can predict the future.. somemore nowadays the society concept of MARRIAGE is so differnet.
We cant do anything about the overall society but wat we can do is to KNOW wat you are doing.. I suppose whatever our actions , in return reflects onto the SOCEITY>.

I always uphold the belief - Do not do unto others what you would not others do unto you. I think integrity is a trait that is fast becoming extinct in this world that emphasises results and individualism. The SAA (single and available) guy has no integrity at all.

Totally agree with your comments posted to the "old man" :).
Man loves to take woman for GRANTED. They can do anything just to win your heart and after which dump you aside to fend for yourself. They expect that you will know how to take care of yourself. Sad to say that you will only be in their top priority when they are going after you and once they managed to get you, you will be out of their list :) NO MORE TOP PRIORITY!!

Just to update you on what happened after dinner that night.
In a few cars, we visited a building that one of us have bought. Certainly not me. I boh lui.
We then adjourned for coffee at one of the 2 guys' new "love nest".
There are now 2 new divorcees (eeee!!!) rejoining singlehood.
